Direct Access Testing: Because no one knows your health needs better than you
Did you know you can order your own lab tests without a doctor’s order? Direct Access Testing, also known as direct-to-consumer testing or patient-authorized testing, has been growing in popularity over the past few years. There are many benefits to direct testing:
• No doctor’s order required
• No insurance or Medicare involvement
• Confidential results directly to you
• Tests offered at a discounted rate
• Walk-ins welcome
Decatur Health Systems is now offering direct access testing on-site in our CLIA-certified, full service laboratory.
Paperwork is minimal
Decatur Health will not bill your insurance or Medicare for direct access tests. Instead, patients must come to the hospital’s admissions desk to complete the testing form and remit payment before any testing is completed. DHS accepts cash, check or credit card at the time of service. Direct access testing is available 7:30AM – 5:00PM., Monday through Friday, holidays excepted.
No appointments are necessary.
Fast, accurate results
Laboratory results will be mailed directly to the patient. It is the patient’s responsibility to share and discuss results with their health care provider. Visit www.decaturhealth.org or the hospital admissions desk to see the printable Direct Access Testing requisition form, which includes the available tests and their prices.
