PRN Provider Spotlight: Shawn Vredenburg, PA-C
Decatur Health is proud to highlight Shawn Vredenburg, PA-C, who supports our team by providing care when additional coverage is needed. Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Shawn had a 20-year career conducting search and rescue and disaster response operations as a rescue specialist in the U.S. Coast Guard, responding to thousands of rescues along our nation’s coasts, including serving as the first medic on scene at the TWA Flight 800 disaster off Long Island, New York. He later commanded two busy search and rescue stations in Southwest Harbor, Maine, and Tybee Island, Georgia, before retiring and returning to Kansas. His education includes degrees in public health from American Military University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Wichita State University. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as a Kansas State University preceptor, helping guide future healthcare professionals. Shawn is married to his wife, Heather, and together they have six children and eleven grandchildren. Shawn’s dedication to service and patient-centered care makes him a valued part of the Decatur Health team.
